In the Buttercup room we have children between the ages of 6 weeks and eighteen months.

One side of the room is designed for quiet times, floor play toys, role play activities and the other half of the room is designed for creative activities, table top activities and meal times.

The routine allows for the children to take part in several activities that are happening at the same time, if they feel they no longer want to paint, they can play with the floor toys for a while and then return to the painting activity.

The children enjoy a time in the garden or soft play, we understand the need to continue the child’s development in the garden and activities are planned for outdoors to take this into account.

At mealtimes the children are encouraged to sit on a small chair, use a bowl with a spoon and fork and attempt to feed themselves, help is on hand for those children who need it.

An area of this room is fenced off so that children who feel they would like a rest or a sleep after dinner can do so while the more energetic ones can continue to play. Children are encouraged not to sleep after 2pm in order to assist the family with the sleep routine in the evening.
